In general this article is intended to talk about printable coupons and online specials from Joann Fabrics. There are lots of other important coupons for the regular customer, however. The secret here is to sign up both for their free flyers and their email notices. Both will save the customer a small fortune on fabric, notions, patterns, craft classes and framing services. Joann Fabrics will probably cringe at this advice but here goes. Never pay full price for this company’s product line. They run numerous sells, coupons, discount weekends and online specials. It is not hard to find online specials since Joanne Fabrics will email these printable coupons to anyone who takes time to fill out the form on their website or in stores. As a rule new merchandise will be best purchased using the 40% off coupon for one item included in each sale period. Here’s a word of caution though. If the coupon in the flyer is not used, then the flyers will stop being delivered eventually. Additional coupons are routinely offered for 40%-60% off on custom framing services or 50% off on classes. Keep in mind that regularly scheduled in store and online sales exist for all of Joann Fabrics inventory. The trick then is timing and really shopping diligently to get this retailer’s best buys. Patterns, for example, will only be on sale for three days per company in store. Since these are often offered at 99 cents each for Simplicity, Butterick and McCalls a person could save $80 when buying the ten per customer limit. Vogue is rarely on sale and is then only discounted to $3.99 each. But these normally retail at four times that price, or more. Shopping Joann Fabrics may become addictive. Beware. Time favorite sales on seasonal merchandise and buy the perfect pattern later on sale. Finally buying notions at the 50% off thread and notions wall sale will add up to three shopping trips or website visits. Needless to say, other items end up in the cart each time. This is the most clever of merchandising techniques: saving us money in order to trick us into buying more. It works. Regular sewers will set aside one day a week typically for shopping at Joann Fabric. If you become one of us then at least learn to schedule that trip, make a list and work those coupon specials. Also learn how to combine coupons. For example, Joann Fabrics sales often have a day or so with an additional 10%-to-20% discount off the total purchase. This coupon is the clincher. It takes its discount off sale, regular, clearance and already coupon discounted merchandise. Sometimes Joann Fabrics will give a bonus discount card to be used at a later date. This of course is a shopper’s goal–to save money now and in future purchasing. Less often than other promotions are Joann Fabrics senior citizen discount days and student discount days. Be watching for these as they don’t occur often and usually take the discount off total purchase. Be prepared to show a college I.D. card for student discount or state I.D. card or other proof of identity for the senior discount. These may be very good offers. For online discounts be sure that a thorough understanding of fabrics and threads is in your skill set before ordering. There are enormous differences in weights and weaves of fabrics. The picture on the website may not match the type that was expected. In addition to having already cut the fabric the returned merchandise has costed a great deal in postage. The best advice for those who have the time is to order fabric swatches first. Of course, there is no guarantee that the same fabric will still be available after a decision has been made. Bricks and mortar stores are still preferred where sewing and crafting is concerned. We are not affiliated with the company.
